Work activity in a Sine: between party politics and public policy

Abstract

This report, based on the ergological perspective, presents questions that guided an intervention in a Secretariat of Labor, Employment and Income of a municipality of Espírito Santo and some of the effects observed among the employees. We seek to demonstrate that the production of a professional genre in public service takes place in a triple temporality: a temporality characterized by the chronological marking of what is lived in the here and now, strongly influenced by the daily overcoming of service demands; a temporality of successive events over time, such as the succession of service managers; and a non-chronological and intermediate temporality, constitutive of the rules shared by the workers, which combine the means of confronting the ambiguities imposed by the intensity of the longer times, and those imposed by the demands of everyday life. The production of this professional genre involves constant dialogues and constant confrontations with other genres operating in this type of service, in particular the genre of political party relations. An intervention in this scenario requires the understanding of the complexity of collectives and stories present there, so that its effects are more effective.
