Therapeutic workshops in mental health: researching WITH the Actor-Network Theory

Abstract

The objective of this article is to present a description of an experience, the result of a Therapeutic Workshop developed in a Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS), a key device for the Psychiatric Reform and for Mental Health care through the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). We used, for this study, the theoretical and methodological formulations of the Actor-Network Theory (ANT), the propositions of the term ResearchWITH, besides the records in the field diaries, which, in turn, engender this writing, enabling the affections that forged it to be evidenced in this investigation. We hope that this text may expand the possibilities of the psychologist’s work in research and in health care practices. We conclude that, with the proposed activities, the meetings contributed to the social bonding of the subjects, promoting self-care and leading them to deal with their own treatment in a creative way, presenting itself as a welcoming space with important potential for the production of more autonomous subjects.
