The construction of self-representation in Jonas Mekas’ diary-films

Abstract

This paper proposes a reflection on how the diary films of Jonas Mekas contributed to a broader understanding of the self-representation of the field within the cinematic scope. The work assumes that by searching for different ways to deal with the construction of time in his work, Mekas brought new perspectives to think the first-person narratives.
