Abstract
The present work aimed to treat and discuss the conceptualization of Biogeography, as one of the fields of study of Geography; of Phytogeography, sub-area of Biogeography, and of Phytosociology, as a sub-branch of Phytogeography, demonstrating the close connection between these and geographic science. As methodological processes consisted of literature review on the subject, document analysis on electronic sites, elaboration of a schema and explanatory table. The research points out that Physical Geography created subareas that aimed to understand natural phenomena in integral parts, Biogeography, for example, branched out into distinct parts such as Phytogeography and Phytosociology to understand the spatialization and organization of plant communities, and above all, characterize them.
