Abstract
The city is produced by everyone, however, it is not consumed equally. Based on this premise, this article sought to discuss the urban space of the city of Porto Seguro-Bahia and the role of tourism in the socio-spatial segregation very present in this territory. To achieve the proposed objective, a bibliographic review was carried out on the following themes: urban space, socio-spatial segregation, tourism and urbanization in Porto Seguro. Aiming to understand from what moment the city starts to be organized in tourist and non-tourist spaces, and what factors influenced the fragmentation of this space.
