Technological development has reduced the variability between items produced on s large scale. Today, a small change in the process can be critical, requiring rapid action to eliminate it. Traditionally, the CUSUM and the moving mean are the charts used to control these processes that we call robust processes. The aim of this paper is to show that the Shewhart chart can also be used to control robust processes, if the constraint of fixed design parameters is relaxed.
