The objectives of the article are to diagnose and verify the viability of implementing a knowledge management program in an institution of research and innovation. For this purpose, two different tools were used: Sociometry and Organizational Learning Survey, observing, respectively, the social arrangements and the learning potential in the work groups within the institution studied. In terms of results, formal and informal leaderships were identified, and the main issues that influence the management process and its potential were highlighted.
