Open-access The poem-thought in Roberto Juarroz

We intend to investigate in this article the silence, the verticality and the word in the “Fragmentos verticales”, by the Argentine poet Roberto Juarroz. Based on the relationship between poetry and thought present in his work, we analyze its proximity to the notion of logos and the understanding of poetry as a “way of life” and “way of being”, which brings it closer to an existential and ethical proposal. From reading the 496 aphorisms present in his last book Decimocuarta Poesía Vertical (1997), we pondered the author’s epistemological interest in reflection, knowledge and ideas. Our conclusions point to the perception that the relationship between poetry and thought is present in almost all of the “Fragmentos Verticais”.
