Times of crisis, resistance and infrapolitics in Venezuelan inmobile migration

Abstract

In the following paper, we want to approach the concept of “immobile migration” taking the Venezuelan case as a reference to describe and represent the context experienced by those people who have not moved from their places of origin but feel like migrants as a result of two main reasons: a) the diaspora that mobilizes around them and leaves them without of their social networks; and b) the constant changes caused by the contingencies that threaten their lives in times of crisis. Thus, we reflect on the origin and deepening of the crisis as a consequence of the “cartelization of the State”, a scenario that pulls apart the immobile migrants from being able to make demands from democratic participation and forces them to develop strategies of resistance through the exercise of infrapolitics. For this we have developed qualitative research, based on 8 in-depth interviews that allow us to delve into the experiences of our informants.
