Travelling objects

This article focus on the introduction of three machines - the street car, the automobile and the airplane -, as well as the practical and symbolic roles they came to have and the cultural transformations they brought about. The street car meant technological advance, the coming of automobiles expressed the incipient globalization in the beginning of the twentieth century and the arrival of airplanes implied the imaginary reconstruction of the past.
