Elegant magazine for the scholarly young people of Piauí: voz do estudante (1940-1943)

ABSTRACT

The subject and source of the research was the magazine Voz do Estudante, published by the students of the Ateneu Piauiense (Leão XIII Gymnasium) and the Academia de Comércio do Piauí. The time frame analyzed covered the years 1940 to 1943, defined on the basis of the editions available and used in the analysis. The main objective was to analyze how the magazine was used as a pedagogical tool that contributed to the education of students from Piauí. The research is located in the field of the History of Education, associated with the postulations of the New Cultural History and is characterized as documentary research, whose analysis took place on six editions of the magazine published in the period mentioned. The study revealed that the magazine regularly circulated articles of a civic, moral and literary nature which played a significant role in the educational and intellectual formation of the students of the period.
