IN THE QUEST FOR A NEW TEACHER TRAINING IN LATE FRANCOISM: THE INTERNATIONAL APPROACH OF THE VIDA ESCOLAR JOURNAL (1958-1963)

Abstract

This article studies the teacher training model that was attempted in late-Francoist Spain through the journal Vida Escolar in its first period. One of the main Spanish institutions in charge of developing the new perspective was the Centro de Documentación y Orientación Didáctica de Enseñanza Primaria (CEDODEP) through the aforementioned journal. This model was inspired by the positivist and experimental perspectives which had been widespread in the international context since the first third of the 20th century. The central role played by local actors in channelling the global perspectives indicated is pointed out. The conclusions argue that it is important to analyse local contextual elements in order to understand how global educational transfer processes take place.
