CHORAL SINGING AND THE HISTORY OF MUSICAL PEDAGOGY: ANALYSIS OF THE CHORAL SINGING CLASSES , BY JUDITH MORISSON ALMEIDA

Abstract

This article aims at developing a dialogue with the history of the Brazilian Musical Pedagogy, either from the perspective of the recovery of the determining historic moments as well as from the interpretative perspective that becomes feasible as we give up the historic materiality, which, among other possibilities, can be found in didactic manuals. The book Aula de canto orfeônico para as quatro séries do curso ginasial (1951), by Judith Morisson Almeida, will be taken as an investigation subject, seeking its pedagogical proposal in the choral singing, as well as its relation with the pedagogical trend in the 'novista' school and the socio-political context from that time.
