Open-access FROM LAB SCHOOL OF CHICAGO TO EXPERIMENTAL SCHOOLS OF RIO DE JANEIRO IN 1930 YEARS

The article focuses on the relationships between the process of public schools expansion, the scientific knowledge diffusion and the modern ways of socialization and pedagogical school organization. It is based on a reflection about the meaning of school as an institution and its links with modern life and the republican way of governance. At first, highlights the expectations with the experimental schools created during Anisio Teixeira's administration in Educational Department of Federal District - Brazil (1931-1935) in dialogue with the pragmatic though of American philosopher John Dewey (1859-1952). After, presents an interpretation about its influence in the experimental schools project.
