Open-access UNIVERSITY PEDAGOGICAL MUSEUMS AND SCHOOL HERITAGE COLLECTING: THE PASSION FOR STORAGE OF EDUCATIONAL HISTORIANS IN SPAIN

ABSTRACT

University pedagogical museums in Spain have been playing an undisputed role in the study, conservation and dissemination of educational historical heritage. These are institutions that are entrusted with the challenge of assuming a collection that is not limited only to the mere accumulation of school objects, but also proposes as a goal the preservation of the history and memory of the education of a community through from them. Collecting academic materials from the school of the past is a common practice among educational historians, which is linked to an outstanding passion for saving and treasuring pieces that help us decipher and interpret the history of education. The work aims to show that the preservation of objects linked to school memories helps us understand and celebrate a shared history, as well as strengthen our collective identity, contributing to the development of a more conscious and responsible society with its educational memory.
