Filinto Justiniano Ferreira Bastos: the trajectory of an abolicionist (1879-1882)

ABSTRACT

This article is about the trajectory of Filinto Justiniano Ferreira Bastos, abolitionist and intellectual Bahia. Born in the village of Feira de Santana, Bahia, in 1856, Filinto Bastos was an important jurist and professor at the Free School of Law of Bahia. During his years he attended the abolitionist movement in the provinces of São Paulo and Pernambuco between 1879 and 1882. Here, I try to show his experience from the activities of abolitionist associations that took place in the Brazilian law faculties of this period.
