Open-access History to build the memory of slavery in Brazil: difficult points from the exhibition of International Slavery Museum of Liverpool

ABSTRACT

This text examines historical contents of the slave trade and enslavement of Africans and their descendants at the International Slavery Museum: The African past before the Europeans and the insufficiency of the plantation model for Brazil’s slave society. It is not about a historiographical debate, but about the slave past in a public dimension, in politics of the present.
