Abstract
This article analyzes a list of Portuguese books which were acquired in Lisbon and sent from Cádiz to Manuel Fernández de Santa Cruz, Bishop of Puebla de los Ángeles. The list includes: religious tracts, especially works on theology, sermons and devotionals; texts on the history of Portugal and its colonies; and some works on the humanities and literature, with a focus on the writings of Francisco Manuel de Mello. As well as analyzing the subject matter of the books, the article considers how they were sent to from Cádiz to Manuel Fernández de Santa Cruz in Puebla, in 1683. The article also transcribes the report that identifies the books.
