ABSTRACT
This paper presents the issue of working hours as one of the historical elements of casualization of teaching. Through Social Work History, we investigate the teachers journeys linked to the Secretaria da Educação do Estado de São Paulo (SEE-SP) and from their results, we analyze some of their impact on the life of the teacher. Both the remote memory of retired teachers, as the scene unfolded material working teachers point to the relationship between hours and wages and the negative impact on family life and the teacher's health, demonstrating the importance of the topic to think about the condition of work and the need to overcome the market logic in education.
