The role of Aero Club of Brazil in the construction of a national brazilian aviation policy (1911-1972)

ABSTRACT

After World War II there was a great techni cal development of the world's airline industry with the emergence of larger and safer aircraft. Data this time the expansion of the pilot train ing in Brazil, whose formation was encouraged through the campaign "Give Wings to Brazil", launched by the Air Force Ministry in the 40s, in whose organization the Aero Club of Brazil played a key role. This article analyzes, with a longitudinal case study and through photo graphs, testimonials and publications of the time, the appearance, the trajectory and the performance of Aero Club of Brazil not only in Brazil's aviation history, but also in the national complex scenario of the post-war period. The article covers the period from 1911, date of the founding of Aero Club of Brazil, until 1972, when its activities were closed in Manguinhos airfield.
