Police stations are full of freedom-deprived people, and primary care is an entry for their healthcare. This research involved prisoners of two police stations (one male and another female) of a large Brazilian city (Curitiba, Paraná) in order to analyze their healthcare access and build strategies to welcome this population in primary care. It is a qualitative study with open interviews, participant observation, field notes, and researcher experienced in this type of care. As a result, structural and procedural aspects that interfere in the access to healthcare’s diagnostic and therapeutic procedures were observed, as well as lack of disease prevention.
