The aim of the present study is to reconstruct the life trajectory of a chronic kidney disease patient undergoing hemodialysis. We worked with oral life history, using the interview as the main instrument. Data analysis was based on her narratives, anchored in studies that address oral history and human subjectivity, which is uniquely marked by overcoming challenges. Thus, her story allows us to conclude that despite adversity and suffering, humans have the strength to navigate rough waters and achieve happiness.
