Municipal strategies and public services with information technology in the context of a strategic digital city: the case of Goiânia, GO

Abstract:

The economic, social, and technological transformations that cities undergo have a common denominator that leads to pressure for them to serve the population more effectively, promoting their local development. The objective is to analyze municipal strategies and digital public services, and their relationship with the strategic digital city in Goiânia, GO, Brazil. The research methodology emphasized a case study with a 6 variables protocol. The results obtained evidenced the diversified use of municipal themes, both in the disposition of municipal strategies and in the provision of public services with information technology. These services, when inserted in an effective process, lead to the citizen’s quality of life, connecting with the strategic digital city. For citizens, this broadens the debate on the quality of urban life, and for public administrators, it presents discussions on the urban environment from the perspective of local development. The conclusion reiterates that public services with information technology aligned with municipal strategies are part of an innovation process in favor of citizens’ quality of life and local development. They constitute a way to deliver public services with quality information technology to the population through municipal projects, such as the strategic digital city.
