Internet of Things business model: an analysis of new business opportunities – literature review

Abstract

In the age of technological change, attracting the attention of consumers can be an organization's biggest challenge; after all, these business agents have changed and are more demanding. The article deals with technological renewal and the concept of Internet of Things (IoT), proposed by Kevin Ashton. This study aims to list the main contributions of this technology to the creation of new business models and new markets. IoT changes businesses and consumers as it integrates the physical world with the virtual, generating massive amounts of information that can be used for a variety of purposes, primarily to improve productivity and reduce unnecessary spending. The IoT represents an opportunity to create new business models and open up new innovative markets; all of this possible thanks to the processing of a large volume of information and events that will be generated by the connected objects, enabling a quick response for each of them.
