Open-access Riches in differences in cyberculture: towards more democratic and innovative educational practices

Abstract

In this article, we present scenarios that illustrate the richness of differences in cyberculture towards more democratic and innovative educational practices. It is qualitative research that follows a post-critical methodology. Considering students and professors from Brazilian and Canadian universities with a focus on understanding digital culture and its implications for the educational process, we use Facebook and WhatsApp to collect narratives. The results show that the use of digital spaces informs teachers and students about other educational practices that allow them to express other forms of identity and value and listen to other voices that are silenced (for example, Indigenous people, 2SLGBTQ+ and people of color).
