Abstract
The Social Vulnerability Index (IVS) was created as a synthetic index aimed at identifying local fragilities, in order to enable effective government action to address such vulnerabilities. In this context, the present study aimed to develop a new indicator based on IVS data and dimensions, as well as to investigate parameters of social vulnerability and their relationship with the idleness indicator. The method used was linear regression and generalized linear regression, in order to estimate the effects of idleness on the IVS. The results showed a slight correlation between social vulnerability in the income and employment dimension with female-headed households and early pregnancy, and, in a second model, with owned and rented apartments. The study also identified a concentration of issues in the Bodoquena geographic microregion. Ultimately, the findings highlight the need for public policies focused primarily on the mentioned region, aiming at attracting investments and reducing idleness.
