A STUDY ON OBSERVATORIES THROUGH A SYSTEMATIC MAPPING OF LITERATURE

ABSTRACT

The lack of a homogeneous theoretical-conceptual framework on observatories has made it difficult to understand and understand this phenomenon. Given this scenario, this research aims to investigate and understand the state of the art of observatories, seeking to identify their application areas, definitions, characteristics, objectives, benefits, challenges faced, components and, finally, products and services offered by these observatories. To achieve this goal, a systematic literature mapping based on snowballing was performed. The initial set consisted of 65 articles, after performing backward and forward snowballing, 22 and 32 new articles were included, respectively, totaling 119 articles analyzed. The body of knowledge on observatories presented as a result of this study can be used as a guide to help in understanding this theme, in addition, new research can be developed based on the gaps in the literature identified in this research.
