PEDAGOGICAL INTERVENTIONS OF THE TEACHER IN RELATION TO PERCEIVED CONFLICTS AMONG THE STUDENTS DURING THE PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASSES

ABSTRACT

The objective of the research was to understand the teacher perception about the relationship between conflict situations and pedagogical interventions in Physical Education (PE) classes. It is a descriptive, qualitative research that used semi-structured interviews, class diary and promoted joint reflection between three EF teachers from Elementary School II and High School and the researcher. The data of the research went through an analysis of content from predefined categories: conflict situations and actions implemented. Conflicts were classified according to Moore(1). Teachers, previously resistant to living with conflicts, began to exercise the role of mediators between the parties. These behaviors were caused by the change in the perception about how to deal with classroom conflicts, which altered their pedagogical practice by using new strategies, such as empathy based negotiation.
