ABSTRACT

To evaluate the factors associated with the level of physical activity (PA) in teachers of Montes Claros. The study was conducted in 2016 with 760 teachers from 35 schools of Basic Education. Sociodemographic characteristics were evaluated as well as Morbidities, Anthropometric measurements; Subjective health issues; Behaviors and habits. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire, short version, was used to assess the level of PA. Logistic regression was performed to estimate the association between exposures and sufficient PA practice (significance level of 5%). The odds of being sufficiently active were higher among the unmarried and divorced people (OR: 1.57; 95% CI: 1.13-2.18); with a psychological and social quality of life domains unsatisfactory (OR: 1.57, 95% CI 1.06-2.34 and OR: 1.46, 95% CI 1.01-2.11, respectively) and was lower among people of social class B (OR: 0.50, 95% CI: 0.30 - 0.85), with regular self-rated health (OR: 0.59, 95% CI 0.39-0.81), and with unsatisfactory literacy in health (OR: 0.62, 95% CI: 0.45-0.87). In the sample, a low frequency of sufficient PA was found. Marital status, quality of life, self-perception of health, and health literacy were factors associated with the prevalence of PA among teachers.
