Abstract

This article aims to analyze some paintings by the Canadian artist Marianna Gartner. The process of (in) discursive visibility in the screens of Gartner was tried to evidence, considering the universe constituted through the works by the artist. This article will have the the Discourse Analysis of the French line as theoretical and methodological basis, grounded in Foucauldian assumptions device and memory, and the Gartner paintings as discursive materiality. The images by the artist drew attention because of the discursive crossing religious elements of Christian basis, more precisely the duel between life and death, heaven and hell, which can be reactivated discursively by the subject’s memory, producing meanings.
