Abstract
This paper addresses some of the most prestigious scenarios of the ideology of mestizaje in order to contrast them with the fecund thought of anti-mestizaje. First, we characterize the myth of racial democracy and its solidarity with the criollo’s notion of mestizaje. In the second part, we bring the culturalist concept of “the space in-between”-with its “false obedience” and its estrangement from the word received from the West-closer to the previously characterized ideology of mestizaje. In the final part, we present ch’ixi, ReAnthropophagy and resumption as legitimate forms of disobedience to the Westernizing violence addressed throughout the development of the paper.
