JULIUS EVOLA’S SUPRAFASCISM AND THE FUNDAMENTALS OF THE ILLIBERAL NEW RIGHT

Abstract

In this article we analyze the political thought of the Italian Julius Evola (1898-1974) as a way of understanding the reinvention of the world far right, from the post-Second World War to the present day. By proposing alternative foundations to the forms and values of Western Modernity, Evola has become one of the central references in movements that seek to differentiate themselves from historical fascism and conventional right-wing nationalism through an alleged dialectical overcoming of the legacy of these experiences in a new synthesis. between left and right adapted to contemporary society. We approach Evola’s trajectory and the main lines of his thought: esotericism, Traditionalism or “perennial philosophy” and the “conservative revolution.” In the end, we analyze its relationship with Italian fascism and German national socialism.
