IMMATERIAL WORK AS VALUE: THE MACROECONOMIC STRUCTURE OF CREATIVE INDUSTRIES

Abstract

This article describes and discusses the properties of creative industries as a social and economic field. Situated between the production of goods and services and symbolic universes, the creative industries field shows the existence of a massive economic appropriation of the possibilities presented by the symbolic production itself. As it will be discussed in this article, there is a replication effect of creativity towards other economic branches, with several benefits in what concerns economic growth, jobs, international economic integration, and especially with regard to its insertion in global trade networks. The national and international databases help to define the macroeconomic axis. In the end, there is an analytical discussion about some of the socioeconomic features of creative industries.
