Abstract
Focusing on the period in which Clarice Lispector writes chronicles in the mainstream press, this paper seeks to unveil the aura of “mystery” that surrounds her and its sense, associating it with the construction of a literary persona in conflict with her reputation as a great writer. To, then, understand how her deviation from the more canonic representation of the writer contributed to the achievement of a certain kind of autonomy in the literature she produced later in life.
