Abstract
In this article, we propose a reading of Machado de Assis' "Uma visita de Alcibíades", that analyses how the author fiction procedure articulates with the introduction of the epistolary genre in its form. , and later collected in Papéis avulsos. Through a comparative analysis, we aim to show how these literary devices are fundamental in the rewriting process of "Uma visita de Alcibíades", resulting in a new and modern reading experience of this fiction text.
