Abstract
This text seeks to approximate three literary texts forged in the form of a diary, analyzing how the use of structures and features specifics of the diary's writing happens in order to compose fictional narratives. To do so, Maurice Blanchot's, in "The Personal Diary and Narrative", and Michel Foucault's, in "Writing the Self", thoughts are fundamental. Thus, we have established a relationship between Machado de Assis' last novel, Counselor Ayres' Memorial, and a couple of poems by Ana Cristina Cesar, "24 de maio de 1976" e "25 de maio de 1976". In addition to diary's writing, it stands out in these texts the references to other texts, i.e., the strong presence of intertextuality.
