Abstract
The objective was to understand how the process of teaching and learning the technical knowledge of Marajoara Wrestling takes place in the municipality of Cachoeira do Arari, municipality on Marajó Island, Northern Brazil. In methodological terms, the qualitative approach and Ethnomethodology were adopted as the method. For data collection, semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten wrestlers. As a result, it was evident that the figure of the cowboy historically contributes to the transmission of the knowledge that makes up Marajoara Wrestling. It is concluded that, in the territory of Cachoeira do Arari, a traditional way of teaching and learning the technical knowledge of Marajoara Wrestling takes place in the context of farms and through an “education of attention”, a process that occurs when an experienced wrestler demonstrates a technical skill of the wrestling to a novice wrestler, allowing them to watch, listen, and imitate, and thus learn.
