Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the development of women's football in Brazil considering the transformations in the clubs and the Brazilian Women’s Football Championship from its inception to the present day. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected on the participation and performance of clubs in the competition, as well as the involvement of female coaches in leading these teams. Interviews were also conducted with five male and female managers of teams participating in the A1 series. The results show an increase in the competitiveness of the championship, reflecting greater support for the development of female players. However, the findings are also alarming regarding regional disparities. A higher representation of women in leadership positions was observed, although numerical equality and better working conditions have yet to be achieved. This study provides insights into current progress and future challenges in promoting a more equitable football landscape.
