"Tem sido como um pequeno raio de luz": Explorando as possibilidades transformadoras do deportigualízate

Abstract

This paper explores the transformative possibilities of deportigualízate, a critical intersectional feminist curriculum aimed at challenging inequities within a group of Spanish Physical Education-Sport Tertiary Education students. Part of a larger participatory action research project, this study employed qualitative methods (e.g., questionnaires, group interviews, and artefacts, among others) with data analysed using reflexive thematic analysis. Underpinned by ”Doing Gender” theory, three themes were generated: (a) Transformative possibilities at the personal level: new embodied approaches, (b) Transformative possibilities at the relational level: empowering relations, (c) Transformative possibilities at the sociocultural level: small wins. These findings highlight the potential of deportigualízate to raise awareness of inequities and inspire change across personal, relational, and broader sociocultural domains. The study concludes that integrating critical intersectional feminist approaches like deportigualízate into education can foster spaces for reflection, connection, and empowerment. Such possibilities can offer meaningful steps toward broader transformations.
