Abstract
This study aimed to investigate how the interdisciplinary approach proposed by the Area of Languages is reflected in the pedagogical practices of Physical Education teachers. We worked from the perspective of Physical Education teachers in the public school system in municipalities in southern Rio Grande do Sul The study included teachers from seven cities: Pelotas, Rio Grande, Arroio do Padre, Canguçu, Turuçu, São Lourenço do Sul, and Capão do Leão. A mixed-methods questionnaire with both open- and closed-ended questions was administered. The collected data were analyzed using Content Analysis techniques. The results indicate that, in most cases, pedagogical practice is carried out through isolated activities or projects and is often aligned with the practices of Portuguese Language and Art teachers. However, the inclusion of Physical Education within the Area of Languages—aligned with the guidelines of the BNCC—has fostered the emergence of new interdisciplinary practices. In this context, the connection between curricular components is rooted in cultural contexts, emphasizing aesthetic sense.
