EDITORIAL
Since the publication of its first issue, in 1972, the Annals of the Entomological Society of Brazil, has aimed to divulge original results in the different areas of Entomology, in order to contribute with the enlargement of the scientific and technological knowledge. Despite the difficulties, the journal has kept its regularity during these 29 years, due to the efforts of its Editors and its high level Editorial Board as well as the support of its Board of Directors.
The journal has pursued the policy of increasing its scientific level and its graphic quality, constantly worrying about being a broad and efficient diffusion agent of the entomological knowledge not only nationwide, but also able to reach a higher number of researchers of the world scientific community.
With this objective and following the international trend, the journal receives the name Neotropical Entomology and has its format changed to 21x28 cm, starting from this number, the first issue of the XXI Century. The journal will continue to be published in Portuguese, Spanish and English, however we encourage the authors to prefer the English language, thus allowing a broader diffusion of the information.
I thank the participation and support of the Editors, Directors and Members of the Entomological Society in this process and hope that this change becomes an important step in the consolidation of this journal as a representative of all the Neotropical Region, broadening the frontiers of the entomological knowledge, not only territorially but also in the search for innovations and in the solution of problems.
