Crescimento econômico e desenvolvimento urbano: por que nossas cidades continuam tão precárias?

Despite economic progresses - including a spectacular growth in public spending on urban development - and the promises of decentralization and the City Statute, the signs of an exclusionary and predatory urban development program are still visible in the process of urbanization in Brazil. This essay discusses some of the obstacles that precludes the Brazilian urban network of answering to the challenge to extend the right to decent living conditions to the poor and the right to the city to all.

Economic growth; urban development; right to housing; right to the city
