The Political Economy of Urban Waste Disposal in São Paulo

ABSTRACT

The article examines the construction of urban solid waste management market in São Paulo. It analyses official equity data of companies which operate in public and private niches of solid waste management, as well as the associative organizations and their networks. Also, it relates the process of market consolidation to the public policy’s broader regulatory framework.
