Impact of 15 Years of Satepsi on Brazilian Psychological Assessment

Abstract:

This theoretical article aims to present the most relevant impacts caused by the installation of the Psychological Testing System (Satepsi) of the Federal Council of Psychology in the area of Psychological Assessment (PA) in Brazil. Satepsi's actions involve, in particular, regulation of the area, assessment of the minimum quality requirements of available psychological tests, dissemination of information about PA to the community, continuing education activities and class awareness. The publication of the analysis of the first psychological tests occurred in 2003 and this year celebrates 15 years of existence. The date deserves to be celebrated because of the improvements promoted widely in the training of the psychologist, in the qualification of psychological tests, in the recovery of the credibility of the area and in the construction of a set of knowledges that should be adopted when carrying out evaluation practices. The promulgation of Resolution 009/2018 establishes the current guidelines for conducting the Psychological Evaluation in professional practice for diagnostic purposes and is a result of the advances that have occurred in the PA in Brazil in recent years, recognized in national and international publications.
