Evaluation of a career guidance intervention according to former undergraduates' views

This study aimed at evaluating processes and outcomes of a career guidance intervention procedure, carried out in a state university clinic, according to former undergraduates' views. The participants were 33 former undergraduates who worked from 2001-2006 and answered an evaluation questionnaire forwarded to them by e-mail. The questionnaire focused three analysis dimensions (inputs, processes and outputs) including closed questions and also room for commentaries. The data were treated quantitatively by means of descriptive statistics and qualitatively by means of content analysis. The outcomes showed that the service facilities were considered adequate by the undergraduates, the processes were seen as a means to facilitate the former users' decision making and the themes adequate to facilitate the planning of the former users' life design. From the qualitative analysis of the commentaries, a number of propositions were made for the improvement of the career guidance practices held by the service, of the research instrument used and for the undergraduates' training processes.
