The contemporary fear: approaching its different dimensions

The aim of this essay is the description of the aspects that fear has acquired in the contemporary setting. Fear is here interpreted as an emotion which is also socially constructed. We can observe how fear went through a process of internalisation and can now be described in terms of a few characteristic forms: the so-called panic syndrome, the search for pleasure through fear and the precautions taken in regard to personal security. Such forms of fear are associated to the so-called contemporary malaise and related to the features of the culture we live in.
