Open-access “What About Lesbians?”: CFP Resolution 01/1999 between Silences, Disputes and Care Policies

Abstract

This essay questions the place of lesbianities in the debates prompted by CFP Resolution Nº. 01/1999. For this, it outlines the historical and political construction of the Resolution, the contribution of LGBTQIA+ social movements, and the still incipient presence of lesbian perspectives in public policies in Brazil. This essay aims to reflect on the importance of active listening and articulation with social movements to improve professional practice and public policies aimed at lesbian women. Based on a literature review and critical reflection, this essay discusses the role of Psychology as a privileged and far-reaching field that can operate within multiple public policies and in clinical settings - spaces that are powerful for listening to and elaborating dissident subjectivities. It emphasizes that normative frameworks such as CFP Resolution Nº. 01/1999 are fundamental, but that depathologization configures a continuous process that must guide professional training and practice. It concludes that the inclusion of lesbianities in public policies in Psychology education and in the debate on sexual and reproductive rights is essential to oppose heteronormative practices and build a socially committed psychology.
