The discovery of the unconscious and the elaboration of its historical route

The text focus the concept of unconscious in the Freudian work, following Freud’s path in its discovery and concept elaboration. The text tries to demonstrate that the theory of the unconscious is part of a long and laborious process of construction. Aiming to investigate its concept historically, starting from the origin up to its subsequent developments, the text begins with the theoretical elaborations from the period of “Studies of Hysteria” (1893-1895) and culminates with the elaborations in the first and second freudian topic. The text formulates the close connection among the unconscious and the concepts of representation, repression, desire and resistance. The text also shows the articulation between theory and the free association method.
