This study aims to think about obesity in the light of the psychoanalytic theory, focusing it as a current mounting epidemic, although it has an ancient history. The psychoanalytic concept of instinct, used by Sigmund Freud, gave way to a theoretical articulation from a specific question: "What are you hungry of?", making it possible an agreement that goes beyond the organic body, entering in scene the pulsional body. Considering the inclusion around the instinct concept, the present study expresses only one possibility to understand obesity, leaving questions for future work.
