Evaluation of a proposal for the prevention of the existential void in adolescents

The aim of this paper was to validate a preventive proposal of existential void in a group of high school students. 33 sophomore students participated in this study, 11 boys and 22 girls with average of 16.5 years old and amplitud of 14 and 18 years. The participants were distributed randomly in two groups. This way one experimental and one control group were constituted. The adolescents from the experimental group participated in an intervention program denominated prevention of existential void with the aim of increasing the sense of life sensation. In the first moment a pre-test (PIL test) was applied on both groups and, in the end, a post-test was also applied. For the data analysis, a T-student Test was used for repeated measures. The results suggest that the intervention promoted the development of the sense of life sensation, because the progression of existential realization level was noticed, as well as the regression of despair and existential void levels of the experimental group participants.
